Over the years, Gulmohar has been growing as a community of artists & creative people working towards the common good. Carrying forward the same spirit of community & collaboration, we decided to start an art residency: Amaltas.
Rooted in long-term expertise, the residency offers room for reflective artistic practice, situated research, and dialogue grounded in relationships & interconnectedness. Participants are invited to reconnect with their art practices, and engage with place-based knowledge through independent work, a curated program, and peer exchange.
This residency creates a space where ecology, art, and culture meet to foster learning, reflection and inclusion; exploring diverse ways of knowing and being in relationship with each other and with nature. It aims to create an open space for cross-disciplinary artistic explorations.

Trupti Pandya; the founder of Serving Hearts is formally trained as a psychologist & hypnotherapist.
She is a community weaver; through her initiative HeArt Circles she brings people together to immerse in the power of creativity -through songs, stories, play, clay, visual art or the whispers of nature.
Trupti’s work domain & underlying philosophy aligned so well with the ethos of Gulmohar. It is really gratifying to support her journey where art takes more meaningful and more responsible role socially.
Padmaja. C. runs a textile arts & print studio in Brooklyn, USA. Trained in printmaking from New York Fashion Institute, she leads hands-on art workshops and introductory courses in surface design. Apart from commercial design projects, practicing Japanese Shibori for over a decade, she creates bespoke, one-of-a-kind scarves & clothing in natural fibres with eco-friendly dyes & pigments.
Padmaja’s skill palette is vast and her keenness to learn new skills makes her an ardent learner. It was a delight to witness her enthusiasm to share her ideas & skills with others during our interactive sessions. She conducted a two day workshop on cyanotype (on textiles) and one day workshop on Sashiko: Japanese darning technique. Apart from doing workshops she also did a small commissioned job for one of our client projects @Gulmohar.
Rinni Choudhary is a graduate in Painting from Delhi College of Art and postgraduate in Painting and Expanded Media from the University of Hyderabad. During her masters studies, Rinni’s practise evolved into an inquiry shaped by questions of social responsibility, care and artistic agency. While working with the writing of children and artists living in Gaza, Palestine, she began to see art as a language that can communicate, heal and provoke reflection.
She came to Gulmohar residency, seeking a space to continue her reading and research on war and violence, and work at the Chhaap Printmaking Studios. She learnt woodcut and created an artist’s book called ‘Half a Pack of Bread’ based on the monologue written by Mahmud Najem in 2010— a concise narrative by a teenager who goes to buy bread amidst the occupation and nearly escapes bombing at the market.
By offering her art to the voices of children living in Gaza, Rinni aspires to re-sensitise our humanity by re-humanising the stories of its people.
